JAY HENSON

Jay Henson graduated from St. Louis Christian College in Greater St. Louis with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education. Jay obtained his Series 6 and Series 63 Insurance License in 1996. In 2010, he obtained his Series 65, Registered Investment Advisor License, which he uses to serve his clients’ money management and investment needs.

Henson Insurance & Financial Investments LLC focuses on four principals guiding his relationship with his clients.

  1. Deliver what we promise in a timely manner.
  2. Deliver the best value and pricing in products for the client’s situation
  3. Educate our clients and prospective clients so they can make informed decisions
  4. Provide top-quality service that exceeds expectations

Although Jay’s clients come from different careers and occupations, Jay has a lot of experience working with teachers within the local school corporation. Jay also serves many clients in the medical device industry, which is prevalent in Owen and surrounding counties. One of Jay’s passions is helping people build a base plan of income they cannot outlive. He helps clients put together a portfolio that guards against inflation in the long term, while also allowing for quick access to funds for immediate needs. Jay is always available for questions and periodically reviews with his clients to make sure they are getting the most out of their money.

Jay often hears about the frustration of people who want to retire early but are prevented doing so from health care costs. He helps his client map out their health care options prior to retirement, before the client is eligible for Medicare. Once clients are able to qualify for Medicare, Jay guides them through the best options and explains the intricacies of Medicare and the plans available, eliminating confusion of Medicare choices, such as Medicare Supplement vs. Medicare Advantage. Jay also hosts Medicare seminars throughout the year for clients and non-clients alike to learn about their options. Each year, individuals enrolled in Medicare have the option to change their coverage. Prior to the Annual Election Period (AEP), Jay contacts each client to check in and see if they wish to make any changes or find a more cost-efficient plan, as their lives often require changes.

Jay is married to Kim, who is an elementary teacher in the Spencer-Owen School Corporation. He and his wife have four children and just welcomed their first grandchild. They attend Ellettsville Christian Church, and Jay is a member of the Spencer Exchange Club, an organization known for promoting Americanism and supporting programs preventing child abuse. Jay is a big supporter of, and volunteers within, the athletic departments of both Owen Valley High School and Lighthouse Christian Academy.
